Welcome to the Hotel Sacher in Vienna! Tradition combined with modern spirit. In 1876, Eduard Sacher founded the Hotel Sacher in Vienna. Soon after its creation, the Sacher became a world famous meeting point for politicians, artists and the aristocracy. Eduard Sacher was the son of the creator of the Original Sacher-Torte, a unique chocolate cake. Since 1934, the hotel has been run by the Gürtler family, who is very intent on maintaining the hotel’s old tradition.

A simple glance from its windows confirms the hotel’s spectacular location. It is directly in the city centre, close to the pedestrian shopping area Kärntner Straße, opposite the Opera House and only a short walk away from St. Stephen’s Cathedral, the Hofburg Imperial Palace and the elegant Ringstraße, a road which boasts an impressive array of Vienna’s major sites, such as the Burgtheater Imperial Court Theatre and the City Hall.

The name of our hotel pledges luxury, tradition, style and comfort. The Hotel Sacher has always attached great importance to a balance of tradition and innovation.  During 2011 we have completely refurbished the traditional hotel rooms. The focus was put on a sensible combination of classical interior design combined with innovative technology.

The main emphasis was on the refurbishment of spacious and luxurious bathrooms. The French interior designer Pierre-Yves Rochon had been commissioned again to implement this scheme in the inimitable Sacher style.

It is extremely important for us to meet and exceed the high expectations you have in our hotel. The Sacher is not only a living tradition, but also an expression of contemporary Austrian lifestyle. We unite the old and the new Vienna in a unique atmosphere, while offering top-of-the-range comfort.
